Overview
The company needed software running on a local PC to be reachable from anywhere, without exposing the local network to the internet.
I set up a Cloudflare Tunnel: a secure connection from the local machine to Cloudflare's network, published on a company domain.
How I set it up
- 01
Domain
Configured the Cloudflare account and the domain or subdomain that serves as the public entry point.
- 02
Install cloudflared
Installed the cloudflared client on the local PC.
- 03
Authenticate
Logged cloudflared in to the Cloudflare account to control the tunnel configuration.
- 04
Create the tunnel
Created a named tunnel and mapped it to the local IP and port of the application.
- 05
Route DNS
Added a DNS record so traffic to the domain goes through the tunnel.
- 06
Run & test
Started the tunnel and tested it from different networks to confirm a stable, secure connection.
